Year in Review: 2024

Alexander Ignatiev

The year passed faster than expected. Looking back, nothing particularly remarkable comes to mind. However, as I start writing, I’m beginning to recall a few things.

Movies #

Not all movies, let’s be honest, were good, and not all of them have been released in theaters or online yet.

359 movies watched this year.

The best of 2024 includes some of 2023 due to differences in release dates across regions.

Sports #

The most effective training took place in March — 10 sessions.

61 workouts. 109 hours. 1056 sets.

Despite the fact that most sets were in the bench press (117), the main focus was on legs, arms, and back. Although, I wouldn’t say that. I often noticed that I was cutting corners and not fully pushing myself. This is especially true for legs, and in the last few months — for my back as well.

I also want to remind that all of this happens in my apartment, and I lack certain equipment, like a leg press machine (it’s not essential, but it was convenient in the gym), and of course, weight plates, which I still haven’t bought.

Exercise Weight
Squats (Barbell) 45 kg
Bench Press 75 kg
Bent-Over Row (Barbell) 60 kg
Bicep Curl (Barbell) 35 kg

Meditation #

19 minutes of meditation on average per day.

I’ve already written in the journal about several meditation techniques. Earlier this year, I had a break from late April to early December. In any case, the data is based on previous months and the last few weeks.

Losses of the Year #

Interesting, But Not Published #

On March 22, Lisa and I picked up a gecko (eublefar), which we decided to name Theodore Kaczynski, or simply Ted. But just recently, I had the thought that the name Phil Collins might suit him as well.

Achievements #

  1. Composed the soundtrack for the film Three Aliens.
  2. Organized the digital library.
  3. Created an electronic cookbook to avoid wasting time thinking about what to cook.
  4. Finally set up automation for backing up important documents and files.
  5. Designed an embroidery pattern, and Lisa embroidered the ignatuque.xyz logo on a sweatshirt.
  6. Overhauled the structure of ignatuque.xyz.

Failures #

  1. The script for the short film Someone Somewhere Said Something, and It Happened was written, but production never started. There are several reasons for this:
    • The story involves at least 8 people. This creates very complex time management challenges, even among those who don’t need to be convinced to participate, due to different life schedules.
    • Lack of equipment. While this doesn’t have a major impact, psychologically, it complicates the process, especially for me, and somewhat affects my desire to do everything perfectly.
